Evil lyn7/23/2023 ![]() Her becoming this antagonist is not condonable, but it's understandable. It confirms the needy, obsessive Skeletor has broken her with his toxic ways, now crafting this interdimensional goddess who wants to usher in peace in a violent manner. As such, she wants to destroy all reality because this resetting is the only way to bring order. She peered through history, space and time and saw nothing but chaos, all wrought by humanity. Notably, the all-seeing Lyn's destructive ways aren't rooted in any selfishness. Even when Skeletor rescued her, he made her a slave, ergo why she sees this as karma for her enemies and something she's earned. It's a corrupt, power-hungry move, but nuanced as she's never had agency - losing her parents, becoming a runaway in the slums and a perennial target for men. There is a lot more to her than just a stereotype, and as we have seen, far more depth to her character.RELATED: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe's Biggest Plot Holes & Unanswered Questions But the truth is, there is actually a real mix inside her.Įvil-Lyn’s evil is skin deep, but she’s not bad to the bone like Skeletor. There is goodness inside her it remains under the surface, but it is there. As soon as Skeletor made his comeback, Evil-Lyn reverted back to type, and took her place at his side.īut in those few episodes in between, when Evil-Lyn became her own person, she showed that she CAN be good. ![]() Or at least, she did until Skeletor returned in episode five. Without Skeletor, Evil-Lyn was able to become someone else – a better someone else. So, Evil-Lyn got to highlight her good-natured side because Skeletor wasn’t around. ![]() He added: “What happens in a world where the person who helps identify that character – in the case of Teela and He-Man, and in the case of Evil-Lyn and Skeletor – what happens if those two figures are removed from their lives? Who do they get to be? And as we see in these first five episodes, there is goodness in Evil-Lyn, as Orko points out.” Evil-Lyn though was always Skeletor’s subservient.” And Teela, you know, fought side-by-side with He-Man – definitely more of his equal. Smith explained: “We’re talking about two woman who have been in the shadows of very powerful male characters since the inception of the franchise. Skeletor had been such a huge influence on her life, that without him, things changed considerably. After He-Man and Skeletor seemingly ‘died’ in a monumental battle in episode one, she began to question everything about her life and the show followed her story.Īnd while Teela was getting to know herself, a similar situation was unfolding with Evil-Lyn, who found herself in a whole new place after Skeletor ‘died’. Across cartoons, games, comics, and the toy lines, this is the default setting for all MOTU stories.Īnd when it comes to being evil, Skeletor really is bad to the bone (no pun intended). If you’re a long-term fan of Masters of the Universe then you will know that He-Man is good, and Skeletor is evil.
